Automatic Electric Company Black Payphone Original And Operational Telephone.

Just think about how many conversations this piece had heard and been a part of. How many people have touched this piece through out it's time. It baffles me when I think about that.

This is an original payphone from the 1950-60s.

It comes complete with the top and bottom keys. Please be careful with the keys. The cash box door has a lock built into it. If the bottom key is lost the entire door has to be replaced. These doors were considered high security. Each door weighs approximately 2.5 pounds and is made of tungsten steel.

The telephone measures 18" tall by 7" wide by 6" deep weighs approximately 30 pounds. This phone also includes the top plaque, you can change the info card to something else very easily.

The chrome is not perfect, you can see some ware due to age in my photos.

Now how does it work? No, this model is Non-operational.

I have multiple phones available, someone operational and some purely decorative. If you would prefer one of my phones be operational I can make that happen.

These phones are wonderful additions to the home. I like the idea of being able to use them (if only I had a home phone line). However, if you are not interested in using it you can always have it for display. It is also great as a home safe. You can store valuables inside the lock box.
